Honorable protocols,

Honorable speakers,

And my beloved brothers and sisters.

Assalamualaikum wr.wb

In the name of Allah the beneficent and the merciful.

Praise is to Allah, the lord of the world, and the sequel is for those who keep their duty unto him. Further, there will be no hostility except against wrongdoers.

Blessing and salutation upon the most honorable prophet and messenger , his families, all his disciples, and those who follow them in goodness till the day of judgment.

In this good chance, I would like to deliver my speech by title;

The Role of Islamic Students in Globalization Era

Before we talk about globalization, it is better for us to know what is the definition about globalization first. Globalization is a change of nation mindset into glogal mindset. Beside of that, globalization is an era marked by missing the territorial limit of nation. It enables the nation culture interferences. So,  that as we can see in our life, there so many significant changes like, politic, economy, culture of nation, technology, social life and etc. From those changes, constantly it will give impacts to the lifestyle and characteristics of the people in this country.

Globalization era which is happening today not only gives changes in positive effects of the science, information and technology development but also brings about religion principle and culture development. Those become the cause of a drop in identity of the nation. as we know,Indonesia is a country with majority of the people who stay inside are moslems. But let’s see what is happening in our surrounding. There are many victims of criminal and immoral actions that we often hear in this country.

Let’s pay attention more what happens in our surrounding at present! Free sex, pornography, alcoholic drink and drugs become youth costum in this country. Most of them always imitate what becomes “up to date” without filtering and thinking before. And they never make balance between thought and desire and between ability and action. In addition, they do not preserve the islamic laws because they think that religion is the symbol only whereas, youth is the next generation of this country. So how this country’s future is if most of them get a drop in their moral values?

Consequently, we are the next generation of this country; we have to keep ourselves by faith in God, and piety in facing the globalization era. One way that may it can be used for facing the globalization era is by good education. Good education is not only by knowing about mathematic, social sciences, natural sciences, chemistry and others, but also we have to make balance with understanding about manners, good attitude, fiqh and many thing that it has relationship with our God. Because of that way we can know what should we do and what should not we do in this glabalization era.

Moslem brothers and sisters!

After ourselves are fortified by a good power of faith and piety, we should not keep silent when we know the negative changes that happens in our society because of globalization era. As islamic students we ought to become figures in anticipating the negative effects of this global era.

Allah states in the noble qur’an; (waltakum minkum ummatan yad’una ilal khoiri wa ya’muruna bil ma’rufi wa yan hauna ‘anil munkar, wa ulaaika humul muflihun)

Meaning: let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining alma’ruf and forbidding almunkar and those who are the successful man.

As the next generation we should take the positive effects of globalization era only, raise our taqwa and realize our religious doctrine in our daily lifes, become good figures for the society in facing globalization, information and communication technology.
